Love me not! (Part 1)
It was his
call again! “Hey! What were you doing? “He questioned.
I had sweat
beads running down my spine. “I was just lying down.” I answered trying to
sound as normal as possible.
“With whom?”
he laughed and there was a sudden silent from both the ends. I didn’t know if I
had to talk or just keep mum. I cleared my throat audibly and told that I was I
was not.
“I have
stomach ache.” I explained.
“Oh! Didn’t
you miss your periods? Or did you eat something unhygienic? I often advice you
to eat healthy. Why don’t you ever listen to me? He sounded very low.
I wasn’t
sure what would be his next move. He was very unpredictable.
“Baby, are
you listening? “he spoke worried.
“Yes ... yes... I did. Umm I mean I had a sandwich
the other day. Since then I am not well.”
“Yes you
told me about it. You had one and half.” He said remembering the details as
usual.
I dropped
the call after explaining him about my routine day. It had nothing great in it.
It was Sunday. I had plans to sleep whole day and eat something at the hostel.
I had a box of dry fruits as well. I would survive. Tear drops ran down my
cheeks. I had to somehow get rid of him.
A message
popped from him which read, “Hello baby, please eat fresh fruits. Get few
fruits today, or ask your roomie to get few for you. Please get well soon. I
love you. Take rest for an hour. We will talk later.”
I felt as if
I was getting choked with the passing time.
Another
message popped up. “Don’t be online. I will call up after an hour. Take a good
nap.” I hurriedly replied him, “Yes! I will sleep.”
“Have you
forgotten something?” he questioned…
I knew it; I
added “I love you more.” I had tears swelling up in my eyes yet again. I felt
the same choking feeling. I tossed my phone on the bed and waited for the hour
to pass by.
“Hey love!”
he messaged me the moment he saw me online.
“Hi! I just
woke up. I am feeling better.” I replied as normally as possible.
There was a
killing silence. I sensed he would ask again. I knew he would not let go even
one day without enquiring.
“Did you
talk to Raghav today?” he questioned. I tried to gallop down my fears. “No.” I
replied sounding calm. I tried. “Do you still love him?” he questioned again.
“No.”
“When did
his text reach you last?”
“A week
ago.”
“Yes.. Just a
casual text. It was a long back. I love you Suhas… “I trembled!
“I love you
so much yet you make me angry and make me do all this to you. How do I explain
to you my love? I know you still love him. I know you do. I also love your
sweet pictures…” I cut him in the mid-sentence and promised to stay away from
Raghav.
“I don’t
believe you. Get on Skype.” He ordered!
I hesitated
but I had no choice. I could see him furious at me. His tiny eyes seemed as if
he had drunk more than his body could digest. He pushed a smile. A forceful
smile and waved at me. I could see his phone. He waved it at me. The very next
moment I had the widest smile.
I chanted
how much I loved him and how bad I wished he was with me.
“Again!” he
smiled but ordered.
“I love you
so much my love! I miss you like crazy! I just wish you were here. ” I tried to
act as natural as possible.
“He also
messaged you on facebook. You did not tell me but you will be excused for this
as you didn’t reply him there.
“I love
you.” he said and blew kisses at me. I imitated and smiled forcefully.
That
evening, I had got few fruits delivered at my door step. As usual I didn’t know
who it was. It seemed as if Suhas had people keeping an eye on me. I felt spied
at. My every move was watched.
My phone
vibrated, A message popped. “Hey hun! What are you doing? Why are avoiding my
calls? Everything okay?” It was a text from Raghav.
My heart
pounded with fear. “No, it is just that I was not well.”
“Why is your
health never okay? Should I come over to see you?” he offered. How badly I
wished that he really did come to see me.
“Fuck off!
Don’t annoy me.” was my reply.
“You sound
very rude these days. What’s wrong with you?” he asked very concerned. There
was a pinch of anger accompanied.
I dropped
the call and cried myself to sleep……
