Love Me Not (Part 3)
I cut the call and switched off my phone. After all he
existed more in my cell phone. I had to spend time with Raghav and try to manage
things with him. Out of mind, out of sight was the principle I had just
followed with Suhas. He was anyway a sick ass who would doubt on me anyway. It
was irrespective of whether I speak to other guys or not. You are not a thief
until you are caught. I was anyway in trouble.
I extended my hand in order to greet Raghav. “Hey! I just
thought of seeing you. How are you?” he questioned, looking absolutely
concerned. At the moment I thought of brushing off the worries. I thought maybe
I can experiment ignoring him.
“”It’s nice to see you after a long time Raghav! Let’s go
from here.”
“Coffee?” he questioned. The climate was pretty gray and a
cup of coffee would enhance the beauty of it. He had more of a square shaped
face. I often teased him regarding it. His straight hair fell over his
forehead. He was an ordinary looking man until he smiled. He had a beautiful
smile. I often fell for people with gorgeous smiles.
I felt sad as I was cheating on him. I was clearly cheating on him. It felt
terrible. He held my promise finger and shook me out of my guilt ride. “Hey
what happened?” he questioned. “Just a little tired.” I brushed it off.
“You must try to find
a better excuse.” He looked tensed.
After a pause, he asked, “So is he troubling you? I tell you so much.
You must just block him from every damn place he tries to connect with you. I
believe you have told him clearly that you are not interested in him. Any
problem, I will talk to him.” his eyes were fierce and red. I feared the moment he cited about talking to
him. At any damn cost I didn’t want them to talk to each other. That was one of
the motives I was trying to go along the flow.
“No, Everything is fine. He has stopped bothering me now.”
“Does he send you flowers and strange stuffs?”
“No.”
“Are you sure you are fine?”
“Yes” I tried to calm him down.
“I love you so much taps. It’s just that I dint wish to get
us tagged before I could find a stable job. That was the only reason I kept
brushing off the topic of pledges. I guess now I can think of it.” He seemed
sure of what he was talking.
I hate the word commitment. I was going through enough
anyway. “Ah! it’s okay. What’s the hurry? We are good this way.” I plastered
the topic.
We spent a decent day, shopping, holding hands and roaming
around in the shopping mall. He had bought me a thin chain with a pendant. A
tiny heart shaped pendant.
It was 8 in the evening. I was feeling full after the chaats
we had tried. “You must call up your mother. I think she will be worried.” That
just hit my mind then.
My over controlling mother must have called up my hostel
warden by now. I looked around to check if I could see my fat, ugly warden in
her absolute fashion senseless sari. No, she wasn’t here.
I switched on my phone and it started vibrating madly. I had
messages pouring in. Of course it was Suhas. I tried to read a couple of them.
It read, “Tapasya, you better reply me bitch! Are you with Raghav? I swear, If
I catch you red handed I would kill that bastard and ruin your life!”
I didn’t bother to read the other 179 messages. I had a
couple of messages and missed calls from my mother. I quickly dialed her number.
“What more disgrace are you planning to bring to our family?
Where the hell were you?” she screamed at the other end. I looked at Raghav who
might have definitely heard my mother yell. I forced a smile at him.
“Answer me! Tapasya! Where are you? Your warden called me up
saying you were not in the hostel even on last Wednesday where do you stay if
not in the hostel? Why didn’t you tell me about it?”
I tried to mumble something but she continued with her
screaming. I thought it was better to let her talk and finish off her lecture.
Maybe that would give her some relief. Raghav held my arm and asked me to
relax.
“You know how wretched you are! You bring bad luck with you.
We have sent you far off to Shantapur for your higher studies. What do you do
there? Roam around with boys and get drunk? Do you do this?” I cut the call on
realizing that there was no great importance about this call.
Raghav had overheard everything. She had called a couple of
times more, I settled it. Suhas called up simultaneously while I was talking to
my mother.
I got few more messages from him. “Are you talking to
Raghav?” Or have you found someone else? Do you have any third person too?” I
ignored the rest of the messages, hugged Raghav. He dropped me till my hostel.
The balck ugly warden, watched at me as though I was found
naked in the mid night with her imaginary husband.. Doing.. uh! Chuck it. Let
me not get in to more details.
The cell phone had got switched off again, after the
numerous phone calls. I had received more calls than Amitabh Bachhan, in Kaun
Banega Crorepati!
Ritika came running towards. “You are in trouble!” she
screamed at me.
I knew it anyway. I
just wondered how come she too was aware of my troubles?
To be continued. . . .
